Police ‘arrest’ student over claim Aisha Buhari ‘ate poor people’s money’
Aminu Muhammad, a student, is said to have been detained by the police after making fun of Aisha Buhari in a tweet.
Muhammad posted a tweet in Hausa in June 2022 that read, “Su mama anchi kudin talkawa ankoshi.”
The tweet simply reads, “Mama has eaten poor people’s money and is now full,” along with a picture of Aisha Buhari.
Initially, it was claimed that Muhammad had been detained on November 18 by agents of the Department of State Services (DSS), but our correspondent learned that the student had actually been taken into custody by the police.
According to sources, Muhammad is a Federal University Dutse, Jigawa student studying at the 500-level.

It is unclear, though, whether the student has made amends with his family or a lawyer.
Muyiwa Adejobi, the force’s public relations officer, has not yet responded to the incident, though.
Meanwhile two skit performers were sentenced to 20 caning strokes by a Kano magistrate court a few weeks ago for defaming the state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.

The skit creators were detained and taken to court after they were heard criticising Ganduje in a popular TikTok video.
A two-count charge that touched on both sedition and defamation was brought against them in court.
Aminu Gabari, the magistrate, ruled during the hearing that the two should receive 20 cane blows each as well as be required to sweep the courthouse for 30 days.
