APC Dismisses Rumors of Deal with NNPP Amidst Supreme Court Battle in Kano.

In a fervent denial, the All Progressives Congress (APC) refuted speculations on Sunday regarding an alleged deal with the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) aimed at influencing the Supreme Court’s judgment in favor of Kano state governor, Abba Yusuf.

Addressing the rumors, Kano state APC chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, issued a statement in Abuja categorically dismissing any suggestion of an agreement or reconciliation between the APC and NNPP.

Abbas labeled these claims as baseless “mere rumors” and emphasized that no deal had been struck with any party concerning the matter before the apex court.

The backdrop of this controversy lies in the Kano State Governorship Election Tribunal’s decision to annul the election of the NNPP candidate and declare Dr Nasir Gawuna of the APC as the winner of the March 18 governorship election.

The Court of Appeal subsequently upheld the tribunal’s judgment, prompting Abba Yusuf to seek a reversal at the Supreme Court.

Abdullahi Abbas clarified that the rumored intervention of President Bola Tinubu in favor of the NNPP candidate and the anticipation of Yusuf’s subsequent defection to the APC had no factual basis.

Highlighting the party’s stance, Abbas declared, “APC as a party was not aware of such an arrangement” and affirmed the party’s dedication to pursuing the case at the Supreme Court diligently.

Amidst allegations of anticipated crisis sponsored by the NNPP, Abbas assured that Kano remains peaceful, with the citizens conducting their normal business. He urged party members and Nigerians to disregard propaganda and provocations, emphasizing the APC’s commitment to maintaining harmonious relationships within the state.

As the political drama unfolds in Kano, all eyes are on the Supreme Court, and the APC remains confident in the compelling evidence presented during both the Tribunal and the Appeal Court proceedings.

The party anticipates a favorable outcome that aligns with the will of the people and the rule of law.
