Environmentalist and former Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Environmental Protection Agency, Mr. Franklin Magada, praised this collaboration during a press conference in Warri. “The signing of this MoU with Serendib Capital UK marks a significant milestone in our journey towards environmental rejuvenation,” stated Magada. “Delta State stands as a shining example of practical environmental reforms and sustainable development.
Expressing gratitude to Serendib Capital UK for choosing Delta State as its initial partner in the Niger Delta region, Magada assured stakeholders of peaceful engagement and collaboration in advancing environmental restoration efforts.
The announcement received widespread approval among environmental stakeholders, seen as a pivotal step in addressing long-standing environmental challenges in the Niger Delta. Magada stressed the need for a comprehensive Niger Delta Environmental Sensitive Index framework to guide restoration efforts effectively.
“Today’s partnership underscores the importance of collaboration and collective action in safeguarding our environment,” remarked Magada. We must also recognize the significance of projects like the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP) in achieving restoration success, as evidenced by the ongoing Ogoni cleanup.
