Nigeria striker, Odion Ighalo, has emerged as the top scorer of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, following the conclusion of the tournament in Egypt on Friday night.
After an exhilarating tournament filled with intense matches and remarkable goals, Nigeria’s very own Odion Ighalo has claimed the title of top scorer at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The tournament, held in Egypt, culminated in a thrilling final where Algeria defeated Senegal 1-0 to secure their first AFCON victory in 29 years.
Ighalo’s moment of glory came earlier in the competition when he netted the winner for the Super Eagles in a match against Tunisia, securing the bronze medal for Nigeria with a 1-0 victory. This crucial goal marked his fifth of the tournament, solidifying his status as the tournament’s leading scorer.

The Shanghai Shenhua striker’s impressive performance put him ahead of three other players who were tied with three goals each: Cédric Bakambu of Congo DR, Sadio Mane of Senegal, and Adam Ounas of Algeria.
