Anambra State Education Commissioner Adopts Mmesoma, Student Involved in UTME Forgery Case

Awka, Nigeria- Anambra State’s Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, has announced that she has adopted Mmesoma Ejikeme, a student from Anglican Girls Secondary School, Nnewi, who was recently embroiled in a controversy over allegedly forging her 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result.

Chuma-Udeh expressed her commitment to support Mmesoma as a daughter to help her achieve her life’s aspirations. She made this announcement to journalists in Awka on Saturday, shortly after receiving an award from FreeNews Magazine.

The commissioner revealed her longstanding practice of adopting children and supporting them through their educational journey, emphasizing that Mmesoma is not the first student she has taken under her wing. She praised Mmesoma’s progress and mentioned that she is currently receiving psychotherapy from a state-appointed therapist.

Chuma-Udeh explained, “I decided to adopt Mmesoma to help her actualize her dreams. She is a human being, so we cannot throw her away like that. We are not going to let her down. We are still pleading with JAMB to reconsider her.

She also highlighted Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s dedication to the welfare of every citizen in Anambra State and affirmed their commitment to supporting Mmesoma’s education.

In addition, the commissioner expressed her gratitude to the organizers of the award for recognizing her efforts and vowed that the honor would inspire her to do more for the state’s education sector.

Obinna Mbonu, the Chairman of FreeNews Magazine Editorial Board, presented the award to the commissioner, commending her for her role in advancing the governor’s vision and mission in the education sector.

The adoption of Mmesoma Ejikeme reflects a commitment to providing support and opportunities for young students to overcome challenges and achieve their educational goals.
