Rivers: Tinubu’s Visit Has Nothing to Do with Us – APC

 

, the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Rivers State has distanced itself from President-elect Ahmed Tinubu’s planned visit to the state.

In a recent statement, APC state spokesman Darlington Nwauju described the visit as private and at the invitation of Governor Wike. It has nothing to do with the APC in the state, he added.

“We challenge the outgoing governor, Mr. Wike, to engage in less divisive politics and to refrain from sowing discord among the opposition political parties.

 

Mr. Nwauju said, “We are aware that the governor has been working so hard to create a false impression of the collapse of the APC structure in Rivers State, despite his previous well-documented statements that he would never have anything to do with a “cancer party” (APC).

Recall that Mr Tinubu, who won the presidential election on the APC ticket on February 25th, is paying a two-day visit to the state to inaugurate a flyover and a courthouse built by Governor Wike’s administration.

Mr. Wike has declared Wednesday a public holiday and urged the citizens of the state to greet Mr. Tinubu in large numbers.

Mr Tinubu paid a visit to Mr Wike at Government House in Port Harcourt during his presidential campaign rally in Rivers State, where the governor boasted that APC candidates in the state would not win the election and advised Mr Tinubu against investing in them (APC candidates).
