Delta: Appeal Court Affirms Oborevwori’s Victory, Dismisses APC Petition
The Appeal Court in Lagos has upheld the victory of Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, dismissing the petition filed by Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege as lacking in merit. Omo-Agege, an APC member, contested against Oborevwori, a PDP member, in the Delta State gubernatorial election.
The three-member panel of the appellate court delivered the judgment on Friday, supporting the Election Petition Tribunal’s earlier decision in Delta State. The PDP in Delta State extended its congratulations to Governor Oborevwori through a statement signed by the PDP Publicity Secretary, Mr Ifeanyi Osuoza.
In the statement, Osuoza praised the judiciary for its “learned, articulate, and well-delivered judgment,” affirming that the PDP overwhelmingly won the 2023 Delta State Governorship election. He emphasized that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is the duly elected Governor of Delta State.
The PDP urged the petitioners to reconsider any further legal challenges after the Appeal Court verdict, extending an olive branch to avoid unnecessary resource expenditure. The statement highlighted Governor Oborevwori’s positive governance and leadership skills and called on all Deltans to join hands for the collective development of the state.
The PDP expressed a commitment to inclusive politics and encouraged all well-meaning Deltans to eschew political acrimony and support Governor Oborevwori in delivering the MORE Agenda for the benefit of the people.
