HURIWA claims to have discovered that the mercenary group operated by Dokubo was commissioned by Buhari to replace the constitutionally recognized Nigerian Army. The group called on the Department of State Services (DSS) and other relevant security agencies to also arrest Asari Dokubo due to his “illegal possession of firearms” displayed in viral videos and his suspected involvement with the violent phenomenon of unknown gunmen in the South-East region.

In a statement issued by its National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, HURIWA also criticized President Bola Tinubu, questioning the need for him to employ a private security firm from Asari Dokubo’s stable, considering the presence of the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army, the Department of State Services, and several other security agencies in the country. The group raised concerns that such actions may create a security nightmare for everyone.

HURIWA condemned Asari Dokubo’s open show of illegality, pointing out that he brandished AK-47 rifles in a viral video, which is an act of high treason. They urged authorities to apprehend him for gunrunning and making threats against the Igbo people. The group also criticized Dokubo for publicly requesting that the President should not release Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), which they interpreted as a demonstration of his animosity towards the Igbo community.
