Speaking at the State House while receiving the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, President Tinubu reiterated the importance of pursuing diplomatic solutions to the crisis. He emphasized that although the possibility of kinetic intervention had not been dismissed, forceful removal of a democratic government remained “wholly unacceptable.”

President Tinubu acknowledged the regional concerns and highlighted the potential risks associated with kinetic intervention. He expressed his desire to avoid conflicts like those witnessed in Ukraine and Sudan and the need for a concerted approach to maintain regional stability.

Recalling Nigeria’s successful transition to democratic governance under General Abdulsalami Abubakar in 1998, President Tinubu indicated that a similar model could be replicated in Niger if the military authorities showed sincerity in their approach.
