This ruling overturns a previous decision by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court that had restrained Abure and two other party officials from acting in their roles.

The dispute arose from accusations that Abure and the other officials had forged national party documents.

However, the Court of Appeal, led by Justice Hamma Barka, ruled that the FCT High Court lacked jurisdiction to hear the case. Additionally, the court awarded Abure one million Naira in costs against the opposing party, represented by Lamidi Apapa.

This ruling comes amidst ongoing legal battles surrounding the leadership of the Labour Party. Abure has been engaged in a protracted dispute with Apapa, who also claims the chairmanship, following the party’s strong performance in the 2023 presidential election, where Peter Obi secured third place.
