the Federal High Court in Kano issued a restraining order on Friday, preventing the Kano State Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission from inviting or arresting the former Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, his family members or any person who have worked with him.

The order was granted by Justice A. M Liman in response to an ex parte application filed by Mr. B. Hemba, counsel to the applicant.
The case stems from the anti-graft agency’s invitation of the former governor regarding an alleged dollar video. The court order also extends the restraint to seven other respondents involved in the case. These include the Nigeria Police, Inspector-General of Police, Commissioner of Police Kano State, State Security Services, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Attorney General of the Federation, Attorney General of Kano State, and Kano State Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission.
According to the court’s ruling, all respondents are prohibited from harassing, arresting, inviting, or detaining Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, his family, or any individuals who served under his administration until the substantive originating motion is heard and determined.

The order explicitly states that the respondents, their officers, operatives, agents, or any related individuals or groups are restrained from intimidating or forcefully taking over properties belonging to the former governor, his family, or his appointees.
Justice Liman further specified that the interim order will remain in effect until the hearing of the motion for the enforcement of Fundamental Human Rights, scheduled for July 14, 2023.
This legal development marks a significant milestone in the ongoing legal proceedings concerning the former governor’s alleged involvement in the dollar video scandal.
