Imo APC members travelling to Abuja die in auto crash
Members of the All Progressives Congress from Imo State who were travelling to Abuja for Tuesday’s inauguration of the 10th National Assembly perished in a car accident on Monday.
According to our correspondent, the bus they were riding in collided head-on with another bus in Agbor, Delta State.
Several sources told our correspondent that three people on the bus had been confirmed dead and that others with varying degrees of injuries had been rushed to hospitals.
In the car accident, two men from the Amaraku community in the Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of the state and a woman from the Ogbor community in the same LGA perished.
The victims were the coordinators of the senator-elect for Imo North, Patrick Ndubueze, and the House of Representatives member-elect for Okigwe North Federal Constituency, Mirriam Onuoha, according to an unnamed party leader.
According to the source, three people were killed and others who were injured were rushed to hospitals. Their bus collided head-on with another bus, resulting in the deaths of two men and one woman. Two males from the Amaraku community and one female from the Ogbor community all reside in the Isiala Mbano Local Government Area.
“They were travelling on two separate buses. It is a sad occurrence. The party is distressed by the news. It is a tragic commentary, and we pray that God will accept their souls.”
Cajetan Duke, the spokesperson for the APC in the state, confirmed the development when contacted.
While describing the incident as “sad,” the party’s spokesperson confirmed that only two people had died.
