Zainab Abbas, the wife of a High Court judge, has been kidnapped in Adamawa State.

 

The incident occurred around 2 a.m. on Wednesday at her residence in Nyibango.

This online newspaper has learned that Nyibango, a neighbourhood adjacent to the headquarters of the 23 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Yola, the state capital, is notorious for kidnappings for ransom and other violent crimes.

Due to the frequency of kidnapping attacks, the residents of Nyibango now live in palpable fear and are considering leaving the area.

 

The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed that Zainab Abbas was kidnapped.

 

SP Suleiman Nguroje, the command’s spokesman, stated, “The victim was abducted from her residence in the Nyibango neighbourhood, behind the Royal Ambassadors Hotel.”

CP Afolabi Babatola, the commissioner of police for the state of Adamawa, has deployed members of the Crack Squad, Special Rapid Response Team (SRRT), and other tactical units to conduct a strategic and intelligence-driven rescue operation, he added.

 

“The deployed team is determined to ensure the arrest of the perpetrators, demonstrating the command’s commitment to vigorously prosecute offenders,” Nguroje emphasised.

In addition, he disclosed that the deployment would improve the coordination of rapid responses to emergency calls and facilitate the eradication of criminals.

In addition, the Police Commissioner has instructed the Deputy Police Commissioner in charge of Operations and Deployment to supervise the planned rescue operation.

 

In addition, it has been learned that all divisional police officers have been instructed to conduct exhaustive stop-and-search operations in their respective areas of jurisdiction, particularly at night, in order to establish total control over public spaces, prevent criminals from escaping, and apprehend troublemakers.
