A High Court in Ado Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State, has declared the dissolution of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Caretaker Committee in the state null and void. The court reinstated the duly elected State Working Committee led by Engr Alaba Agboola, perceived as loyal to former Governor Ayo Fayose.

The National Working Committee of the PDP had earlier dissolved the state executives and established a Caretaker Committee, appointing Arch. Sadiq Obanoye as chairman. However, Engr Alaba Agboola contested this decision by filing a lawsuit against the PDP Acting National Chairman, Umar Damagun, and two others.

In a recent judgement, Justice O.I.O Ogunyemi ruled in favor of Engr Alaba Agboola, declaring the dissolution of the Ekiti State Executive Committee null and void. The court also dismissed the appointed Caretaker Committee, emphasizing the reinstatement of the Agboola-led State Working Committee.

The judgement included an order of perpetual injunction, restraining Umar Damagun, the PDP, and their agents from recognizing the dissolved Caretaker Committee. Additionally, the court prohibited Arch. Sadiq Obanoye and other members of the committee from presenting themselves as the Ekiti State Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party or managing the affairs of the state chapter.

This legal outcome marks a significant shift in the internal dynamics of the Ekiti PDP, with potential implications for the political landscape in the state.
