In a significant move towards expanding its market presence, Dangote Refinery has initiated the registration of distributors for its products, as announced in a statement released on Friday in Lagos.
The company has successfully registered members from three prominent associations, collectively constituting 75% of Nigeria’s total market share. These associations include the Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN), Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), and Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN).
The Executive Secretary of DAPPMAN, Mr Olufemi Adewole, highlighted ongoing discussions with Dangote Petroleum Refinery regarding the lifting and distribution of refined petroleum products.
Last year’s meeting between DAPPMAN’s leadership and Dangote Group’s President, Aliko Dangote, aimed to explore collaboration opportunities for seamless product distribution nationwide.
DAPPMAN’s Chairman, Dame Winifred Akpani, expressed optimism that the refinery’s production would accelerate Nigeria’s economic development, providing DAPPMAN members with crucial access to refined petroleum products.
National Vice President of IPMAN, Alhaji Hammed Fasola, confirmed the association’s intention to lift and distribute products from Dangote Refinery, emphasizing a mutually beneficial business relationship. Fasola highlighted IPMAN’s substantial ownership of 80% of the country’s retail outlets, ensuring smooth distribution across Nigeria.
Executive Secretary of MOMAN, Clement Isong, corroborated the registration of MOMAN members as marketers for Dangote Petroleum Refinery’s products. With production underway, discussions on the terms of collaboration are set to commence soon.

The statement reiterated that Dangote Petroleum Refinery is designed for 100% Nigerian crude, with the capability to process other crudes. Notably, the refinery boasts the capacity to load 2,900 trucks a day at its truck-loading gantries, marking a significant stride in the nation’s petroleum industry.
