Delta State Police arrest three teenagers for faking friend’s kidnapping
The Delta State Police Command has apprehended three teenagers for orchestrating the kidnapping of one of their friends and extorting N700,000.
In a statement released by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, on his X account on Friday, it was disclosed that the trio, all 17 years old, had conspired to stage the abduction in Agbor. They subsequently contacted the parent of one of them, demanding a ransom. Following the payment of N700,000, they were apprehended.

Expressing concern, Edafe remarked, “Our youths should exercise restraint. Pursuing shortcuts to success often leads to premature demise. It’s alarming that a 17-year-old would resort to faking a kidnapping merely to extort money from a parent.”
He further lamented, “What’s disheartening is that parents may resort to frantic efforts to shield them from facing the consequences of their actions. However, justice must prevail.”
