Godswill Akpabio, the former governor of Akwa Ibom State, was prevented from entering a door designated for Vice President Kashim Shettima on a recently surfaced video from the Aso Villa in Abuja by security personnel.
The incident, which has garnered attention on social media, illustrates a conflict of access privileges within the highly secured premises.
Monday’s event occurred shortly after President Bola Tinubu’s meeting with former governors at the Presidential Villa.
Governor David Umahi and Nyesom Wike were present alongside Akpabio, who has been touted as the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) preferred candidate for the position of Senate President.
As security personnel prevent Akpabio from following Shettima through the door, he can be seen in the video momentarily stunned and embarrassed.
