DSS Operatives Invade Court, Arrest Defendants Despite Judge’s Warning

In a shocking display of disregard for the rule of law, operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) invaded a State High Court sitting in Ilaro, Ogun State, and arrested two defendants, Alhaji Isiaka Fatai and Samuel Oyero, despite a warning from the presiding judge, Justice A.A. Shobayo.

The defendants were on trial for an alleged case of arson, but the DSS operatives stormed the court premises, using weapons and rough-handling the suspects. Counsel to Alhaji Isiaka, Kehinde Bamiwola, alleged that his client was beaten, slapped, and molested during the arrest.

The Principal Registrar of the High Court, Comrade Omololu Olusanya, confirmed the incident, describing it as “shocking and disrespectful to the rule of law.” He stated that the DSS operatives refused to heed the judge’s warning not to make any arrests within the court premises, and even assaulted a court staff member, Mrs. Fadina, during the process.

The incident has generated outrage, with many expressing concern over the brazen disregard for the law and the integrity of the judicial process.

The DSS spokesman, Peter Afunanya, was unavailable for comment at the time of filing this report.
