APC Majority Leader Alhassan Doguwa, who was arrested for the murder of three NNPP supporters, has joined the speakership race.

 

Alhassan Ado Doguwa, majority leader of the House of Representatives, has entered the race for the 10th Assembly speaker.

 

Ejes Gist News Nigeria reports that  Doguwa, who represents the Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency in Kano State, has sent a letter of intent to newly elected members.

According to him, his aspiration for the position was motivated by his passion for nation building.

 

The letter states, “I am pleased to offer my congratulations on your election to the tenth Nigerian National Assembly.

 

The addition of Doguwa brings the total number of candidates vying for the fourth position in the country to 11.

Other aspirants include Deputy Speaker Idris Wase (APC, Plateau), Ben Kalu (APC, Abia), Muktar Betara (APC, Borno), Sada Soli (APC, Katsina), Tunji Olawuyi (APC, Kwara) and Abubakar Makki (APC, Jigawa).

Others are Yusuf Gagdi (APC, Plateau), Tajudeen Abbas (APC, Kaduna), Aminu Jaji (APC, Zamfara), and Miriam Onuoha (APC, Imo).

 

Recall was arrested by the Nigerian Police and later sent to prison for the deaths of three NNPP supporters. He was later granted bail on self-recognition; however, the case is still in court as of the time of filing this report.
