Federal Capital Territory () Police Rescue Five Abductees in Daring Operations

In a bold and successful operation, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has rescued five abducted individuals from the clutches of two separate kidnapping gangs operating in Abuja.

The commendable rescue mission was executed by a collaborative effort involving the FCT Special Intervention Squad and the Anti-Kidnapping Unit. This announcement was made by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, during a press conference held on Monday at the Command Headquarters.

SP Adeh recounted the events leading to the successful rescues, stating, “On January 27, around 11:30 pm, the Iddo Division received a distress call reporting gunshots in the Sabon Lugbe axis.

A police patrol team promptly responded, discovering Blessing Eze with a gunshot wound in her shoulder inside a black Toyota Corolla car with registration RSH 724 KC. Blessing, narrating her ordeal, revealed that she and her husband, Joshua Eze, were ambushed by hoodlums in an unknown vehicle. Her husband was abducted after their vehicle was fired upon.”

The swift response of the IGP-Special Intervention Squad and the Police Anti-Kidnapping Unit, along with other tactical sections, led to the rescue of Joshua Eze at Kuje Forest on January 28, around 06:20 pm.

In a parallel incident on January 28, at approximately 05:30 am, Peter Ede and ThankGod Ogunyi reported at Karmo Division that, while praying at Idu Gbagyi mountain Karmo, they were attacked by seven armed criminals at 01:50 am. The criminals abducted three of their group.

Upon receiving the report, police operatives from Karmo Division, led by the dedicated Divisional Police Officer, CSP Abaya Haruna, swiftly mobilized. They engaged the criminals in a courageous gun duel, successfully rescuing the three victims— Igbodi Emeka, Precious Uche, and Eric Chukwudi—unharmed.
