Former deputy governor and former speaker of the House of Assembly have dumped the APC for PDP

Alfa Imam, the former speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, defected from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday (PDP).

He led thousands of APC members from Lokoja Local Government Area in Kogi State to the opposition party, claiming that the ruling party had failed the country.

During his speech, he expressed his gratitude for the warm reception he received from the PDP, emphasizing that he had stayed far too long with the ruling party, which he described as a complete failure in Nigeria.

The former lawmaker stated that their move to the PDP is not an attempt to find an alternative to the APC but rather a move to a party with structure and organized leadership.

While reiterating that the APC lacks leadership, he stated that he thought he could stay in the party to right the wrongs but was not successful.

He recalled how, in 2014, they campaigned against the PDP but were perplexed by the fact that Nigeria has seen more hell under the ruling APC.

Imam promised that the PDP would win convincingly in the general election next month, adding that his conversion to the PDP was a privilege, not a right.
