In a significant political twist, Arch Mike Onolememen, the former Minister of Works in President Goodluck Jonathan‘s administration, and Gideon Ikhine, a former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nigeria.

The move, which took place in Uromi, the headquarters of Esan North East local government area, saw these prominent figures and their supporters welcomed into the APC by General Cecil Esekhaigbe (rtd), the APC leader in the zone.

General Esekhaigbe stated that the presence of Arch Mike Onolememen and Gideon Ikhine in the party signifies a positive omen for the upcoming elections, confidently declaring that the senatorial district would produce the next governor.

“These are great personalities, well-known in Nigeria and political circles,” said General Esekhaigbe. “Their presence is very significant because as we prepare for 2024, it is clear that Esan will produce the next governor. So, with them, the push is on, and we will get there by the grace of God.”
