Details on how gunmen invaded checkpoints and killed a police officer in Rivers have emerged. 

A police officer was murdered by gunmen who invaded a portion of the oil-rich city of Port Harcourt on Good Friday.

It was reported that unknown gunmen had attacked a police checkpoint in the Marine Base neighbourhood of the Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of the state.

In addition, it was discovered that the bandits shot and killed the officer before fleeing.

 

However, the State Police Commissioner, CP Effiong Okon, has ordered an immediate crackdown and the arrest of the unidentified gunmen who fatally shot a police officer near the police base junction.

SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the Public Relations Officer of the Command, stated that the Commissioner of Police, CP Effiong Okon, has deployed tactical teams and other intelligent units with the intention of apprehending the criminals and bringing them to justice.

 

Meanwhile, a prolific writer of Nigerian origin, Chimamanda Adichie, has slammed the UK government and the US, asking them not to congratulate the president-elect.
