Muhammadu Buhari, the president of Nigeria, has threatened to move to the Niger Republic when he retires to his hometown of Daura, Katsina State, after his term ends on May 29, 2023, and people start bothering him.
This was was said by President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday.

He claims that he wants to spend his golden years in a quiet location far from the chaos of city life.
Buhari emphasised his desire for a peaceful rest by saying that if he felt uncomfortable in Daura, he would head to his hometown’s bordering neighbour, the Niger Republic.
The President said that his journey had not been easy as he had been imprisoned for three years following the coup that removed him from power in August 1984 and had unsuccessfully run for office three times, in 2003, 2007, and 2011, before being welcomed by residents of the Federal Capital Territory led by Minister Muhammad Musa Bello.
He also described his previous roles as a military officer, military governor, minister, and Head of State before returning in 2015 as President who had been duly elected.

After years of labour, according to President Buhari, he chose to retire to Daura, which was far from Abuja, in order to get some rest.
“I am eager to return to Daura. I will depart for the Niger Republic if they make any noise in Daura that would disturb me. I made sure to position myself as far away as possible. I got what I wanted, so I’m retiring quietly back in my hometown.
“Despite technology, getting to Daura won’t be simple,” he said.
