President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed admiration for his predecessor, former President Muhammadu Buhari, commending his bold assumption of power in 2015 during a critical period of heightened terrorism in the nation.
Speaking as the chief guest at the launch of the book “Working with Buhari: Reflections of a Special Adviser on Media and Publicity (2015–2023)” by Femi Adesina, Tinubu highlighted the challenging task of securing every inch of the country that he inherited and pledged to eliminate the remnants of Boko Haram, Ansaru, banditry, and kidnapping gangs.
Tinubu asserted, “We won’t rest until every agent of darkness is completely rooted out,” emphasizing his commitment to eradicating the threats that persist.

Reflecting on the challenges faced by President Buhari, Tinubu acknowledged the economic downturn and the Boko Haram insurgency that gripped the nation. He recalled the efforts of the armed forces under President Buhari’s leadership to reclaim territory and push the terrorists to the fringes of Lake Chad.
The President underscored that despite progress, the job of securing the entire country remains unfinished. He assured that his administration would continue the fight against Boko Haram and other criminal elements. Tinubu also highlighted the infrastructural achievements of President Buhari, such as the second Niger Bridge, revamping of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, and the completion of rail lines and seaports.
Expressing gratitude for the presence of former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, former ministers, and Alhaji Mohammed Indimi at the book launch, Tinubu honoured Buhari as a great patriot and dedicated public servant. He pledged to complete the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Expressway, a project initiated by President Buhari, as a testament to his commitment to continuity.
Tinubu affirmed that his administration would build on Buhari’s achievements, resolve outstanding challenges, and work towards creating a vibrant economy for the prosperity of the Nigerian people.
