The INEC public affairs officer in Lagos state, Adenike Oriowo, disclosed to newsmen on Friday, January 5, that the Surulere Federal Constituency I bye-election notice has been published, adhering to legal requirements.

The notice was prominently displayed on Thursday, January 4, at the commission’s headquarters in Sabo-Yaba, Lagos, allowing for public scrutiny, as reported by The Punch.

According to the statement on the commission’s website, “In accordance with Section 28(1) of the Electoral Act 2022, and in line with the Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the Bye Elections and Court-Ordered Rerun Elections scheduled for 3rd February 2024, the Commission today published the Notice for the elections.”

Meanwhile, the race to replace Femi Gbajabiamila’s vacant seat in the Surulere Federal Constituency has commenced.

Abdul Raheem Owokoniran, a former aide to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has declared interest in the coveted legislative seat.
