INEC orders re-election in 9 polling units in Kogi
In nine polling units in Ganaja Village, Ajaokuta Local Government Area, Kogi, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has ordered a re-election.
According to Alhaji Haliru Sule, Kogi INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, the order became necessary as a result of logistical issues preventing elections from taking place in those units.
Sule told Ejes Gist News Nigeria on Sunday in Lokoja that election materials and officials had already been redeployed to the area for the election.
“Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections in Ganaja Village, Ajaokuta Local Government, presented some difficulties due to logistical issues.
“We attempted to find a way for it to occur on the previous day, but were unsuccessful; therefore, we must move it to Sunday.
“The State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr. Hale Longpet, has authorized the election to take place this Sunday, February 26.
“We do not want some people to be disenfranchised in this extremely important election,” he said.
Sule urged the citizens of Ganaja Village to participate in the election and exercise their right to vote without interruption.
