The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has categorically denied allegations of withdrawing passwords from some of its local government supervisors in Imo State ahead of the gubernatorial election.
Contrary to claims by unidentified individuals describing themselves as “concerned workers,” INEC clarified that it has indeed released the necessary passwords for the uploading of election results.

The Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi, dismissed the rumors, emphasizing that the assertion that passwords were withdrawn from Assistant Presiding Officers (APO1s) was entirely false.
In a statement issued on Friday, Oyekanmi addressed the misinformation: “The attention of the Independent National Electoral Commission has been drawn to a story attributed to unknown ‘concerned workers’ of the commission that passwords for result upload have been withdrawn from LGA Supervisors for use by APO1s in Imo State. This is untrue.”
He continued, “For the avoidance of doubt, Presiding Officers (POs), and not APO1s, are responsible for result upload to the IReV.
All the passwords have been securely released for use by designated officials in line with the commission’s procedure.”

Oyekanmi urged the public to disregard such insinuations, emphasizing that these types of claims might surface before, during, and after the elections.
