In an interview with Arise News, Bishop Kukah said that the Israel-Hamas conflict is one of the greatest tragedies in human history and that there can be no peace without justice for the Palestinians. He said that the international community has failed to address the root causes of the problem and to support the creation of a Palestinian state.

The world has been watching this tragedy unfold for over 70 years and nothing has changed. We cannot move forward or backward in any sense of seeking justice if there is no talk about the creation of a Palestinian state. However, the Palestinians must also reflect on the terrible mistakes they made after Oslo 1 and 2. My heart goes out to the people of Palestine,” he said.

Bishop Kukah also commented on the political situation in Israel, where Netanyahu is facing corruption charges and a possible ouster by a coalition of opposition parties. He said that Netanyahu’s days are politically numbered and that he is using the conflict with Hamas as a distraction from his domestic troubles.

“Netanyahu is in a very difficult situation. He has been in power for too long and he has been accused of many crimes. He is trying to cling to power by any means necessary, even if it means sacrificing the lives of innocent people. He is using the conflict with Hamas as a way of diverting attention from his own problems. But I think his days are numbered. He will not be able to survive this crisis,” he said.

The Bishop’s statement is a reminder that the conflict can only be resolved through dialogue and a willingness to compromise. It is time for both sides to come together and work towards a peaceful resolution that benefits everyone involved.
