Kaduna Governorship Election Tribunal Rules Election Inconclusive, Declares Governor’s Seat Vacant.

The Kaduna State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has delivered a significant ruling, citing INEC’s inability to upload real-time results as a factor allowing result manipulation by the APC. Consequently, the tribunal has removed as the APC governor-select and declared the election inconclusive.

Isah Ashiru, the PDP’s gubernatorial candidate, asserted during an interview on Channels TV’s program that the governor’s position in Kaduna is currently vacant. This declaration follows the tribunal’s ruling on Ashiru’s petition against Governor Uba Sani, which led to the declaration of an inconclusive election and the order for fresh polls in seven wards spanning four local government areas.

The tribunal’s judgment has sparked controversy, with both Sani and Ashiru interpreting it favorably. When asked about the current governor of Kaduna, Ashiru stated, “In my view, that seat is currently vacant, especially considering that the court has directed the withdrawal of the Certificate of Return that INEC issued to the governor.” He affirmed his intention to appeal the case to restore the people’s mandate and emphasized their commitment to abiding by the law.
