New FCSC Board Vows Integrity in Civil Service

The newly inaugurated Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) has pledged to put an end to the longstanding practice of “cash and carry” in appointments and promotions.

Prof. Tunji Olaopa, the Chairman of the FCSC, announced this commitment during a press briefing after the inauguration ceremony at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The 12-member board, appointed by President Bola Tinubu, aims to align its actions with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President.

Expressing concern over allegations of job racketeering, Prof. Olaopa emphasized the commission’s role as a beacon of integrity and its historical significance in upholding the values of the civil service.

New FCSC Chairman, Prof. Tunji Olaopa Stated:

“I am disturbed by the whole cash and carry reputation at the commission, and we will do everything possible to collaborate with intelligence and security agencies to make a few scapegoats.”

The chairman highlighted the commission’s commitment to rebranding the civil service, making it synonymous with integrity and efficiency. “We will communicate a new face for the Civil Service Commission.

That will be our first charge, and we will all be committed to bringing back institutional values to the public service of Nigeria,” he declared.

In addition to ending corrupt practices, the FCSC aims to modernize and deploy technology, reinstitute professionalism, and enhance the capability and efficiency of the civil service.

Dr. Husseini Adamu, a member of the FCSC representing Niger and the Federal Capital Territory, assured the public of the board’s readiness to make the service more effective.

“We have a crop of seasoned technocrats and administrators on the board that will deliver on the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda. We will deploy our vast and diverse experience to make the service the pride of government,” Dr. Adamu stated.

New Appointed Board Members

The 12 newly appointed members of the commission include Prof. Tunji Olaopa (Chairman), Dr. Daudu Jalo, Obong Ededet Eyoma, Shehu Aliyu, Festus Oyebade, Dr. Chamberlain Nweke, Dr. Adamu Hussein, Rufus Godwin, Aminu Nabegu, Hindatu Abdullahi, Odekunle Aduke, and Princess Sarah Sosan.

With these seasoned professionals at the helm, the FCSC aims to usher in a new era for the Nigerian civil service, characterized by transparency, professionalism, and a renewed commitment to public service values.
