The Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Sa’ad Abubakar, has declared Sunday, May 21, as the first day of Dhul-Qadah 1444AH.
This was stated on Saturday by Sambo Junaidu, Chairman of the Sultanate Council of Sokoto’s Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs.

“The Sultanate Council Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, in collaboration with the National Moon Sighting Committee, received no report confirming the sighting of the Dhul-Qadah 1444AH crescent on Friday.”
“As a result, Saturday, May 20, will be the 30th of Shawwal 1444AH.”

“The sultan accepted the report and declared Sunday, May 21, 1444AH, as the first day of Dhul-Qadah,” Junaidu said.
Dhul-Qadah, one of Islam’s four sacred months, is the 11th month on the Islamic calendar, preceding Dhul-Hijjah.
