The immediate past chairman of Community Development Committee (CDC) Comrade has harped on the need for continuous peaceful coexistence among indigenes of the community while urging members of the community to support the Community Development Committee (CDC) led by Mr Emeka Maduagu.

Comrade Oyibo who commended the Nigerian Army and other security agencies for the restoration of peace and security to Obodo-Ugwa Ogume community urged unscrupulous elements to desist from formenting trouble capable of disrupting peace in the community.

Comrade Aslem Oyibo refuted the allegation of financial mismanagement , stating that the accrued revenue during his tenure was judiciously utilised for the development of the community.

In a press briefing, the community leaders, described the electoral process that led to emergence of Mr Emeka Maduagu as the chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC) to be credible, transparent and inclusive.

According to them, trouble began in the community when Chief Ifemeni Thomas refused to accept the outcome of the peaceful and credible election that produced Mr Emeke Maduagu as chairman. Adding that Mr Maduagu secured twelve votes to defeat Chief Thomas Ifemeni who scored four votes. They indicated that the elction was conducted under the watch of the Okpalu-Uku in council, Onotu-Uku in council and the entire indigenes of the community.

They decried the unscrupulous and barbaric attitude of Chief Thomas Ifemeni who has been terrorising the community with thugs to harass and torment the people.

They disclosed that the Chief Ifemeni did not have the charisma and requisite education qualifications of SSCE as stipulated in the community constitution to contest for the position of the chairman of the Community Development Committee.

They enjoined him to follow the part of peace and shun all forms of rancour, so that they could collectively work for growth and development of Obodo-Ugwa Ogume community.
