Police dismiss inspector for killing Delta businessman over N100

An Inspector named Ubi Ebri has been fired by the Delta State Police Command for allegedly killing Onyeka Ibe, age 26.

Ibe was shot and killed on April 5, 2023 in Asaba, the capital of Delta State, on Ugbolu-Illah Road after reportedly refusing to pay a N100 bribe.

According to reports, the deceased worked as a phone vendor at the state’s well-known Ogbeogonogo Market.

 

He allegedly was taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Asaba right away after been shot by the police officer but was pronounced dead when he got there.

To express their rage, some angry youngsters paraded the victim’s body across Asaba.

The command later located and detained Ebri.

The suspect, however, has been dropped, according to a statement from the police released on Tuesday.

In a statement from the command, DSP Edafe Bright, the command’s public relations officer, Ubi Ebri was informed that he had been fired from the Nigerian Police Force and will be prosecuted to court on Wednesday, April 19, 2023.
