Soldiers Kill Policeman For Intercepting Colleague With Indian Hemp in Borno
A Nigerian police sergeant named Ahmed Ali was killed, after his team stopped a soldier in a car transporting Indian hemp, the officer was shot dead by some soldiers in Benisheikh, Borno State.
Locals and security sources told Newsmen that the incident took place on Monday around 10 am at the town’s entry checkpoint.

According to a security source, the soldier beat a security checkpoint in an ash-colored Acura sport utility vehicle with the licence plate FKJ 761 AR and refused to stop despite a police warning.
“The police team fired at his tyre after he refused to stop, forcing him to do so; however, Sgt Ali was shot dead by the soldiers as they attempted to drive the car to Benisheikh police station.
One of the security sources revealed that Sgt. Ali, who was reversing the vehicle, was killed by a bullet. “The soldier carrying the Indian hemp, identified as Sgt. U. Joseph, along with his other colleagues, tried to stop the Squad from removing the vehicle, which led to the shooting,” the source said.
According to information gathered by our correspondent, the suspect is currently in the military’s care, and the car is parked at the Benisheikh police station.
According to a military source, the shooting occurred accidentally as a soldier by the name of Ibrahim Waberi shot at the car in an effort to prevent the dead person from moving it.

He said, “His shot accidentally struck the dead but the accused soldier is in custody for investigation.
The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sani Kamilu Shatambaya, was on leave and his deputy could not be reached for comment, so all attempt to speak with the police was unsuccessful.
