Veteran Kannywood actor Kawu Mala is dead
The Kannywood film industry, which produces films in the Hausa language in northern Nigeria, is mourning the loss of one of its members, Aminu Muhammad, who was popularly known as Kawu Mala in the TV series ‘Dadin Kowa,’ broadcast on Arewa24.

The actor died on Sunday evening, May 7, after battling a heart condition for several years. Mala was a well-known actor with over 20 years of experience, and he rose to prominence for his leading role in the popular TV series.
Mala, who was survived by his wife and more than ten children, was laid to rest on Monday morning at Haye Cemetery in Kano State’s Nasarawa Local Government Area.

Mala’s death, according to one of his colleagues in the acting industry, is a great loss that has left a significant void in the industry. Karabiti went on to say that the late Mala will be remembered for his significant contributions to the development of filmmaking in northern Nigeria.
“Doctor, as we used to call him, is a friend to everyone and a brother to most of us,” he says. I’ve known him for over 20 years and have never heard anyone say anything negative about him. He’s gone; our job is to pray for his soul’s repose.”
