Akingbemisola Dorcas Anjola has passed away after a lengthy battle with ovarian cancer.

The 33-year-old actress was diagnosed with cancer in 2021 and required months of chemotherapy in Dubai.

 

After being declared cancer-free, she subsequently returned to Nigeria and continued her acting career.

Whitney Adeniran: Lagos govt to charge Chrisland school, staff for manslaughter.

 

The Lagos State government has finalised plans to file criminal charges against Chrisland School, certain staff members, and a vendor for the death of student Whitney Adeniran.

They would be charged with manslaughter, recklessness, and negligence.

In a statement released on Friday, the Lagos Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Moyosore Onigbanjo, through the Office of the Director, Public Affairs, Lagos State Ministry of Justice, insisted that the suspects would be charged in accordance with Sections 224 and 251 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

According to Onigbanjo, “they will be charged with Involuntary Manslaughter and Reckless and Negligent Acts contrary to Sections 224 and 251 of the Criminal Law, Chapter C17, Volume 3, Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

“Information will be filed in accordance with the DPP’s legal counsel.”

On February 9, 2023, it was reported that Adeniran passed away at Agege Stadium during Chrisland’s inter-house sports competition.

Michael Adeyemi Adeniran, the father of the deceased, stated that his daughter was in good health when the school bus picked her up for the event.

Nonetheless, an autopsy conducted by the government of Lagos revealed that Adeniran died of asphyxiation and electrocution.

In light of the controversies surrounding Adeniran’s death, the Lagos government ordered a coroner’s investigation to determine the student’s cause of death.

The coroner, Magistrate Olabisi Fajana, later disclosed that the coroner’s investigation into Adeniran’s death would begin on April 4.
