President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently participating in the 29th Nigerian Economic Summit held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja.
The summit, themed “Pathways to Sustainable Economic Transformation and Inclusion”, spans from October 23 to October 24, 2023.
In attendance alongside President Tinubu are notable figures including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Atiku Bagudu, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG), Olaoye Jaiyeola.
Also present are the Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure, and the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Budget and National Planning, Engr Nebeolisa Anako, among other distinguished guests.
This summit is the result of a partnership between the Federal Government and the NESG, which established the Joint Planning Committee (JPC) to officially kickstart the event.
Addressing the purpose of the summit at a recent press conference, NESG CEO Jaiyeola emphasized its significance in steering the economy towards a positive trajectory.
He stated, “The 29th Nigerian Economic Summit is not just an annual event; it represents a call for change, a clarion call for renewed commitment, and a dedicated effort to turn our economy around for the better.”
Jaiyeola further highlighted the importance of NES #28, which focused on shaping the country’s development priorities. He commended President Tinubu for swiftly taking action in response to recommendations made during the previous summit.
However, he emphasized the need for careful consideration of the potential impact of policies on citizens and the implementation of measures to mitigate adverse effects.
