President Bola Tinubu has reiterated his unwavering commitment to preventing any student from discontinuing their education in tertiary institutions due to financial constraints.

During the 33rd convocation ceremony at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) in Ondo State, the President who was represented by Professor King-David Terna Yawe of the National University Commission (NUC), emphasized the dedication of his government to tackle the challenges confronting higher education in Nigeria.

Acknowledging the difficulties within the education sector, President Tinubu highlighted the measures his administration is taking to address these issues.

He specifically pointed to the Student Loan Bill, signed into law shortly after his inauguration, as evidence of the government’s commitment to supporting students. President Tinubu assured, “My government will not shirk its responsibilities in this area,” emphasizing the allocation of necessary resources to educational institutions.

“My government will not shirk its responsibilities in this area,” President Tinubu said. “We will guarantee that educational institutions receive the necessary resources to effectively carry out their statutory responsibilities. One of my first actions as President of Nigeria was to sign the Student Loan Bill into law to put this into action.”

“Under my leadership, and as I have outlined in my manifesto, no student will be forced to drop out of school due to an inability to pay tuition,” President Tinubu declared.

The President elaborated on the Student Loan Bill, underscoring that it offers interest-free loans to financially challenged students across all tertiary institutions.

These loans, he explained, would be repaid at the convenience of the students upon securing employment. President Bola Tinubu boldly declared, “Under my leadership, and as outlined in my manifesto, no student will be compelled to abandon their education due to an inability to pay tuition.”

FUTA Vice Chancellor Prof Adenike Temidayo Oladiji expressed gratitude to the President for his consistent support of the education sector, commending his endeavors to improve the quality of education and ensure its accessibility to all Nigerians.
