In response to recent reports suggesting that Senate President Godswill Akpabio collapsed during the Colloquium held as part of his 61st birthday celebration, his special adviser on media and publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, has vehemently denied the claims.

Addressing the public in a statement released in Abuja on Friday, December 15, Eyiboh urged people to disregard the false information circulating on social media channels notorious for disseminating fake news.

“The rumours which have come to our notice through word of mouth from concerned and patriotic stakeholders have been fanned by some social media news channels with notoriety for the dissemination of phony newsflashes,” Eyiboh stated.

He expressed his dismay at the spread of such conjectures, particularly given the backdrop of the Colloquium where Akpabio was celebrated by prominent figures across various sectors. The event was centered on defining a legislative agenda for national development.

Eyiboh clarified that Akpabio, far from collapsing, had spoken on his feet for more than 30 minutes during the Colloquium, providing an in-depth overview of his trajectory like never before.

“As the programme ended and President Bola Tinubu left the Transcorp Hotel venue, Senator Akpabio’s expression to some of those around him that he was tired was escalated to a fainting spell or collapse,” Eyiboh explained.

He further emphasized that the adventurous claims of Akpabio being hospitalized and in critical condition were entirely untrue. Eyiboh firmly declared, “This is wholly untrue, and I declare firmly that besides saying he was exhausted in the hearing of those around him, he was certainly not rushed in a stretcher to the National Hospital or indisposed.”

The statement seeks to dispel the misinformation surrounding Akpabio’s health status and assures the public that the Senate President is in good health following the birthday event.
