Bola Tinubu, who was announced as Nigeria’s ‘president-elect’ by the INEC Chairman has formed a 14-member Presidential Inauguration Committee.
The committee’s primary responsibility is to organise a week-long presidential inauguration ceremony that will mark the official assumption of office by Bola Tinubu and his ‘VP-elect’ Kashim Shettima. The event is expected to be a grand affair, as it will mark the beginning of Tinubu’s tenure as the 5th Executive President of Nigeria.

In a letter addressed to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha, Ejes Gist News Nigeria has obtained information that Tinubu has appointed Mr. Abubakar Kyari, a former Senator representing Borno North and current National Deputy Chairman (North) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), as the Coordinator and Director of Finance and Budget of the Committee.
Hon. Stella Okotete, who is the Executive Director (Business Development) at the Nigeria Export-Import (NEXIM) Bank, has been appointed to head the Secretariat, Planning and Monitoring for an upcoming week-long event.

Meanwhile, Mr. Makinde Araoye, a former All Progressives Congress governorship aspirant from Ekiti State, has been appointed as the Director of Venue, Parades and Swearing-in for the same event.
In a recent announcement, it was revealed that Mr. Bayo Onanuga, who previously served as the APC Presidential Campaign Spokesperson, will now take on the role of Head of Media and Publicity. Additionally, Dr. Betta Edu, the current National Women Leader of the ruling APC and Cross Rivers State Commissioner for Health, has been appointed to coordinate the medical team for the upcoming inauguration committee.
The upcoming inauguration ceremony will see Col. Abdulazeez Yar’Adua, a retired military chief and sibling of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, take charge of the security and ceremonial parade. Meanwhile, Barr. Zainab Buba Marwa, the spouse of Gen. Buba Marwa, the current Director General of Nigeria’s Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, will oversee the pre-inauguration dinner and gala night preparations for the committee.
The committee comprises of several members, including Samira Saddik who is responsible for Children’s Day, Abuh Andrew Abuh who oversees Accommodation, Dr. Danladi Bako who is in charge of the Inaugural Lecture, Hajiya Hadiza Mohammed Kabir who handles Transportation and Logistics, Donald Wokoma who is responsible for Protocol and Invitation, Bishop Adegbite who oversees the Church Service, and Imam Faud who is responsible for the Jumat Service.
According to sources, it has been revealed that the former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, had submitted the names of Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State and former Lagos State Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Wale Edun, to be included as his representatives in the Transition Committee.
There are speculations that former Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu, may be inaugurated as Nigeria’s next president, taking over from the incumbent, Muhammadu Buhari, who was inaugurated on May 29, 2015. Buhari is set to complete his two-term tenure of eight years on May 29, 2023.
