UK Government Speaks on Backing Obi, LP Presidential Candidate for 2023 Elections

 

The British government has announced that it will not endorse a presidential candidate in the 2023 election.

 

Atiku Abubakar, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Kwankwaso, the four leading presidential candidates in Nigeria, all have comparable platforms.

This was stated by Catriona Laing, the high commissioner of the United Kingdom to Nigeria, in an interview that aired on Tuesday on Channels Television.

 

She added that her government is willing to work with any of the 18 candidates who win the presidential election on February 25, despite not supporting any of them.

 

“All of them have made their manifestos accessible. The striking characteristic between them is their similarity. I did not observe any significant differences in policy between the big four.

They have all emphasized the importance of making these difficult policy decisions. However, are there variations? I did not observe many policy differences.

Since the electorate will have chosen this election’s victor, we can work with them. Whoever assumes power will face numerous economic and security obstacles.

“We urge all candidates to act expeditiously on the economy, as a functioning economy will also result in a more secure environment. She explained that the security we observe is due to unemployment and the lack of alternative sources of income.
