Tension As Gunmen Whisk Away Another APC Chieftain, Chinedum Eleliam

 

Gunmen have abducted Hon. Chinedum Eleliam, chairman of the All Progressives Congress for Umuarugo Village Umueze ll ward in the Ehime Mbaino local government area of Imo State.

The abductors, believed to be herdsmen, used two vehicles to track him to his home before opening fire to intimidate the locals.

The ugly incident occurred days after gunmen killed retired Army captain Tony Enoch, a relative of Oru-East governor Hope Uzodimma and chairman of the APC presidential campaign council for the 2023 presidential election.

 

His body was found in his vehicle.

The Imo Police Command has initiated a manhunt for the fleeing killers of Enoch.

Henry Okoye, the police spokesman, informed the media that CP Mohammed Ahmed Barde had ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident and the arrest of the perpetrators.

Meanwhile in a related development, following the alleged disruption of May Day celebrations by state governor Hope Uzodinma, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has announced plans to shut down the aviation industry in Imo State.

In an official letter addressed to the Lagos branch of the Congress, Comrade Emmanuel Ugboaja, the General Secretary of the Labour movement, instructed the Lagos State Council to immediately mobilise its affiliate unions in the aviation sector to prevent any flight from departing Lagos State for Owerri, the capital of Imo State.

Shortly after the May Day celebrations were disrupted, the Central Working Committee (CWC) of the NLC held an emergency meeting. During the meeting, it was determined that comprehensive industrial action against the State Government would begin on May 3, 2023.

The action is in response to the violent disruption of May Day celebrations in Owerri, Imo State, and the Governor’s alleged interference in Congress affairs during the April election of the National Labour Congress.
