Eight Commissioners Resign from Rivers State Cabinet Amid Silence from Former Governor Nyesom Wike

The immediate-past governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has maintained silence following the recent resignation of eight commissioners from the cabinet of his successor, Governor Sim Fubara.

The commissioners tendered their resignation letters on Thursday, citing personal and family reasons that necessitated their immediate attention. These resigned officials were known to be loyalists of the FCT Minister and were part of Wike’s administration during his tenure as Governor.

The list of resigning commissioners includes Dr. Gift Worlu (Housing), Prof. Zacchaeus Adangor (Justice), Dr. Des George-Kelly (Works), Emeka Woke (Special Duties), and Inime Aguma (Social Welfare and Rehabilitation). Others who stepped down are Isaac Kamalu (Finance), Prof. Chinedu Mmom (Education), and Jacobson Nbina (Transport).

Despite the notable exits from the cabinet, neither Wike nor his team have issued any official statement regarding the mass resignation, and interviews have been declined on the matter.

Moreover, Wike has not yet responded to the recent demolition of the Rivers Assembly complex by the Fubara-led government.
