Yoruba Nation Agitators storm Lagos Police station, injure policemen

In the early hours of yesterday, there was a scene of commotion at the Alausa Police Division located in the Ikeja area of Lagos. This was as a result of the arrival of some members of the Yoruba Nation Agitators who had besieged the station, chanting the slogan, “Yoruba Nation has taken over.”

According to reports, several police officers sustained injuries while attempting to disperse a group of individuals.

In a recent development, it has been reported that two individuals from the group have been apprehended by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hudenyin. The remaining members of the group managed to evade the authorities during what was described as a well-coordinated response by the police.

According to Hudenyin, the suspects who were apprehended were discovered to be in possession of dangerous weapons, charms, and various offensive insignias that are associated with the Yoruba Nation Army.

In a simultaneous move, a separate faction of the group made an effort to seize command of a radio station located in Ibadan, Oyo State. According to their statement, they arrived to formally notify the police of the purported endorsement by the United Nations for the establishment of the Yoruba Nation.

The individuals in question are presently cooperating with the ongoing investigation regarding the subversive plans of their group. Additionally, authorities are looking into their network of supporters, who will be exposed and held accountable for their actions in the near future. According to the source, the aforementioned measures are deemed crucial in safeguarding the internal security of the state.

According to reports, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Idowu Owohunwa, has issued a warning to those involved in subversive activities to desist from such actions within the state. This cautionary statement was made by him recently. The Command in Lagos has declared its readiness to enforce the law and maintain security in the region. With ample resources and a solid operational strategy, the Command is poised to take action against any individuals or groups that attempt to disrupt the established security order.

 

 

According to CP Owohunwa, the Command has taken significant measures to ensure the safety of the state by deploying intelligence, personnel, and operational assets in collaboration with other security agencies. According to Hudenyin, a proactive approach has been adopted to effectively suppress any individuals or groups operating under any name who may attempt to test the enforcement capabilities of the Command before, during, and after the May 29, 2023 inauguration.
