President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has delivered a firm message against violent ethnic agitation, asserting that those who attempt to destabilize Nigeria’s sovereignty will face severe consequences. His remarks come in the wake of a violent incident in Ibadan, where Yoruba Nation agitators attempted to seize control of the government seat.
During a meeting with leaders of Afenifere, the Yoruba socio-cultural organization, led by Pa Reuben Fasoranti, President Tinubu emphasized the need to maintain Nigeria’s unity and constitutional democracy.

He condemned the violent actions witnessed in Ibadan and affirmed his administration’s commitment to combating insurgency and other criminal activities.
The President praised the efforts of security personnel in thwarting the attack and arresting individuals involved. Subsequently, 29 individuals were arraigned in court and remanded in prison over the incident.

Addressing the economic landscape, President Tinubu reiterated his administration’s dedication to achieving comprehensive economic security. He highlighted ongoing efforts to revamp the nation’s finances, enhance purchasing power, and create a fair and equitable system for all citizens.

Furthermore, the President emphasized the need to tackle unemployment and boost social security measures. He outlined plans to introduce allowances for the unemployed and implement consumer credit schemes to enhance citizens’ purchasing power while curbing fraudulent practices.

In response to the President’s remarks, Oba Olu Falae, speaking on behalf of the Afenifere delegation, commended President Tinubu’s leadership and urged him to uphold fairness and equity for all Nigerians. The delegation, comprising prominent figures including former governors and traditional rulers, expressed their support for President Tinubu’s administration and pledged to stand by him in efforts to transform Nigeria for the better.
