The Union of Ijaw Traditional Worshippers (IJW), a Pan-Ijaw organisation, has criticised Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa for his remarks regarding Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo.

The group in Warri, Delta State issued a press statement on Friday expressing their disapproval of the derogatory language directed towards Tompolo by Governor Diri. The statement was delivered with urgency and conviction.
The reprehensible and unwarranted assault on our leader, Gen. Tompolo, by Gov. Diri is unequivocally condemned by us.

It is notable that Diri is a recipient of the Ijaw movement, and it is surprising that an individual of his background would express opposition and refer to the establishment that facilitated his success as criminals.
On April 21, 2023, a statement was issued by Mr. Kokobaiye Abeki, who serves as the Special Assistant to Governor Diri on New Media. The statement was made on the Tracknews WhatsApp platform.
