Miracle in Lagos: 62-Year-Old Woman Welcomes Baby Boy After 31 Years of Waiting
In a tale of unwavering faith and perseverance, Fummi Akinade, aged 62-year-old, has given birth to a baby boy at a private hospital in Lagos, finally ending her 31-year-long journey of marriage without children. Akinade, who faced infertility challenges, remained steadfast in her belief that a miracle would happen.
The resilient couple, married since 1992, underwent numerous gynecological treatments, including three unsuccessful IVF procedures. However, their fourth attempt, conducted in the specific hospital where Akinade eventually delivered, proved successful, bringing immense joy to their lives.

Sharing her emotional experience, Akinade expressed gratitude for her husband’s unwavering support and credited their enduring optimism to faith in God. Her baby, conceived through In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF), was delivered via caesarian section at 37 weeks of gestation.
Akinade’s journey sheds light on the challenges faced by couples seeking fertility treatments, including financial constraints. She urged governments to consider subsidizing the expenses of IVF and similar procedures, particularly for economically disadvantaged couples.
Speaking from a professional standpoint, Dr. Ayodele Ademola, the Consultant Gynecologist who delivered the baby, emphasized that women above 62-year-old could still conceive through IVF or other assisted pregnancy methods.
He highlighted the importance of providing support and innovative solutions to couples facing infertility.
