P ope Francis has criticised laws that criminalise homosexuality as “unjust,” stating that God loves all of his children regardless of their sexual orientation.

Remember that the Pope last year urged parents around the world to never condemn their gay children.

In 2021, the Vatican stated that the Catholic Church and its priests cannot bless same-sex unions because God “cannot bless sin.”

 

Tuesday’s interview with ‘The Associated Press’ revealed the Pope’s stance on the criminalization of homosexuality, as reported by Aljazeera.

He noted that all Catholic bishops who support legislation that criminalises homosexuality and excludes LGBTQ individuals from society are sinners.

He attributed such attitudes to cultural backgrounds and stated that bishops, in particular, must undergo a process of transformation in order to recognise the inherent worth of every individual.

Francis stated, “We are all God’s children, and God loves us for the courage with which each of us fights for our dignity and identity as individuals.”

Further, the pope stated that the Catholic Church should work to eliminate laws that criminalise homosexuality. “This must be done. This must be done,” he stated.

He stated, “Homosexuality is not a crime.” It is not illegal. However, it is a sin. First, let’s differentiate between a sin and a crime.”
