, Atiku’s court cases won’t stop hand over to Tinubu – Boss Mustapha

 

Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), stated that the ongoing court proceedings regarding the 2023 election would not prevent the transfer of power from President Muhammadu Buhari to Bola Tinubu.

 

Mustapha, who is also the Chairman of the Presidential Transition Council, gave this assurance to journalists on Tuesday when he updated them on the transitional process.

“President Muhammadu Buhari will not wait an additional day after May 29 to hand over power to whoever has been declared by INEC.

 

“All efforts are being made to ensure a smooth transition, and on May 29 there will be a peaceful formal transfer of power to the newly elected president,” Mustapha stated.

He added, “It is a constitutional matter, and whether or not all election petition litigations are resolved, the formal transfer of power on May 29 will not be affected in any way.”

“The court processes will continue, and we are doing everything possible to ensure that the transition process does not get cut short.” In this regard, the Federal Government has issued a statement.”

 

The candidates of the Labour Party and the Peoples Democratic Party (), Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar, respectively, have filed petitions with the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) in Abuja challenging Tinubu’s election as president-elect.
